At the end of this Financial Year (surely the most testing year in our student’s young lives) we ask for your support to continue our online creative writing workshops.
Our students are accessing the world outside their home and their current circumstances through their imagination. It’s a powerful thing to learn.
These classes only exist because of the support of people like you. Without funding we cannot run our workshops, cannot ask for their stories, cannot stay connected to these wonderfully creative young people.
In 2020 our students need connection and imagination more than ever before.
At the Story Factory we run creative writing and storytelling workshops for young people aged 7 to 17. Our focus is young people who are Indigenous, from language backgrounds other than English, from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, or marginalised in other ways. Under the guidance of our expert storytellers, and with the support of volunteer writing tutors, young people are empowered to create original stories of all kinds. They leave with the skills and confidence essential for future success.
Every gift counts, and every bit of support goes directly to spreading the life-changing power of storytelling. Stories can change lives.
Thank you for joining us in spreading literacy, imagination and helping young people find their voice.
$30 Allows one child to experience the joys of writing in a creative writing workshop.
$50 Contributes to the development of more online resources to reach kids wherever they are.
$100 Covers printing the original writing of 10 students in anthologies that are theirs to keep.
$200 Ensures one teenager can take part in a term-long creative writing workshop.
$500 Enables a whole class to take part in one-off creative writing workshop.
It is those in our community who are most disadvantaged who will face the greatest hardships in the wake of the COVID-19 calamity. That includes the kids who struggle with school at the best of times, who have low literacy and are the least engaged. They’re the ones whose educational outcomes are going to be most compromised by disrupted schooling this year. The impacts on their future could be catastrophic.
We’re committed to being there to help them recover lost ground, rebuild their literacy and motivation to learn, and boost their confidence, ensuring they have the best chance of success, in an uncertain future.
Please give as much as you can afford because imagination, creativity and connection are more important than ever in challenging times. Thank you!
